Blankney Farm Update – 15 June 2021
Good rain and warming conditions arrived in early May, which meant that our crop development has accelerated and all of our main winter crops have compensated well. We can now be confident of good yields, if the remaining month of July produces sufficient rain.
In May, we didn’t need to irrigate our grass, however, recent dry weather has seen soil moisture levels fall and we have now restarted irrigating.
Our vining pea crop will be the next harvest; the crop has podded up well and we would expect some good quality, fresh, frozen peas to be processed by Greenyard and the product to soon be found on Sainsbury’s shelves.
