Blankney Farm Update – 23 September 2021

Since our last update, we have completed our cereal harvest – wheat, barley, combining peas and beans. The harvest took place over a longer period than normal and on average, was wetter than the previous two years.

Wheat was not as good a harvest as first thought with a final yield of 3% above our 5 year average.

Spring Barley performed very well and was 11% above the 5 year average.

Peas and spring beans were both good as 15% above the 5 year average.

That leaves one harvest to complete, with grain maize – hopefully then our stores will be all full!
