Blankney Farm Update – 31 March 2021
The wait for Spring came about with drier conditions earlier this month and with only 20mm of rain in March, we soon established our Spring cereals, barley and peas and vining peas (for frozen fresh peas). These have gone into the soil in good condition.
We have started and completed sugar beet drilling at the end of this month and we hope for a good emergence and growing conditions, so the plants are big enough to avoid the predicted influx of virus carrying aphids, due at the end of May.
We can relax over Easter and complete our Spring drilling on heavy land peas, early next week.
Happy Easter!
