Blankney Farm Update – 8 April 2019
We had some welcome rain this week and we are now busy finishing applying manure from the nearby AD Plant to our maize fields, in preparation for the cultivation and drilling of maize crops, after Easter. The maize will be harvested in late autumn and will then be ensiled for use in Heath Farm Energy; this site produces biogas for Lincoln and the surrounding areas.
On the crop drying side of the business, we hope to start grass drying next week. This is a lot earlier than last year, as thankfully, we haven’t had to contend with ‘the Beast from the East’! We will be selling both grass and lucerne to the equine markets.
